About

A scientist by training, a sceptic by nature, I am a business professional who specializes in using data to generate insight. Given how unpleasant the online world is, I have chosen to stay anonymous.

I started this website as a personal response to the shambolic Covid-19 policies of our governments (notably in the US and Europe) and the appalling reporting by the media. Critical thinking and clear presentation of the data has been in short supply from mainstream sources throughout the pandemic. So I started digging into the data in March 2020, and producing analyses and charts to clarify what was going on. Unfortunately, I chose not to publish most of them. I’d hoped/expected that sanity would prevail but 2021 is worse, with the ineptitude and totalitarian instincts of our leaders on full display. I can no longer hold back. The tweet below from Martin Kulldorff sums up a good part of how I felt in mid-2020 and still feel today.

Throughout 2020 and 2021, there have been a LOT of people working to produce incredible analyses and insights and acting as a counterbalance to the official narrative. I have followed many people (on Twitter and elsewhere) and owe them credit for informing my perspectives and helping keep me sane. (I will put up a page to honor this debt in due course). I wish I had had more courage to stick my neck out and publish my perspectives at an earlier point – but I am there now. As of October 2021, my efforts to use this site to publish useful information (or at least information I find useful!) are stepping up.

“Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one”. Charles Mackay.

Most people seem to vastly over-estimate the risks from Covid-19 and are living in fear unnecessarily. Maybe some of what I publish can counteract that.

I hope some of you find it useful.

Stay sane and live well.
