Covid-19 Death Table – USA

The table is highlighting data from February 1st 2021 for the USA overall, for New York State (NYS) and for New York City. Various insights can be drawn:

  • That it is important to look behind country averages to see how regions/cities are performing
  • That death rates over 3000 per million are quite possible (see NYC)
    • Note: a) some boroughs within NYC have even higher death rates; b) that NYC reached death rates over 2000 per million at the end or May, so the possibility of death rates at these levels should not be a surprise.
  • Caveat: some sources argue that reported covid death rates overstate the number of deaths truly due to covid due to testing/incentives/other factors
